Motorcycle Safety Reminders

Warm weather is just around the corner so its time to break out the motorcycle. Before you hit the open road, there are a few safety tips you should follow. Here are a couple of reminders to keep you and your passengers safe when cranking down the highway.

Proper Attire – The front or back of a motorcycle is no place for a short formal dress. If you have to worry about your clothes getting messed up, take the car. Wear full leathers when riding, a crash can lead to some severe injuries if you are not properly dressed.

Helmet – While it’s not the law in every state, it is a good idea. Wearing a helmet can save your life in the event of even a minor accident. Remember that even if its not your fault, an accident is going to cause a lot more damage to you than it is to the person in a car. A good habit to get into is always wearing a helmet.

Footwear – slouchy boots or open toe shoes are not appropriate for a motorcycle. You want to avoid anything that could get caught in the chain or spokes or would not protect you in the event of an accident. Full leather boots are your best option.

Wearing the proper equipment and obeying all the rules of the road will keep you safe on your motorcycle.
